The healthiest generation ever

Health starts in your own neighborhood. D66 Leiden wants it to be the standard to grow up, live, and grow old in good health – both physically and mentally.

What D66 Leiden wants:

  • Sports and exercise nearby.
Sports halls, playing fields, parks, and walking routes should be easily accessible for Leiden residents. Children should be able to play safely outdoors in every neighborhood.
  • Healthy and smoke-free schools.
We’re working towards a smoke-free generation. Schools receive support to keep students physically and mentally healthy, focusing on nutrition, exercise, and reducing pressure on young people.
  • Care and support in the neighborhood.
Neighborhood teams, district care, and general practitioners are accessible and close by. Care and support are organized around the neighborhood, not just from large institutions.
  • Mental health is central.
Extra attention is paid to mental health, especially for young people and students. We collaborate with schools, universities, youth work groups, and healthcare providers to provide accessible support and prevention.
  • Safety and freedom on the streets and online.
Leiden remains a city where everyone can be themselves. We take a firm stance against sexual violence and intimidation; we invest in regional Psycholance clinics for people with disturbed behavior. Digital safety is taken just as seriously as physical safety, with proper protection of personal data and a focus on tackling online hate, fraud, and shaming.
