Chris Dams elected as lead candidate for D66 Eindhoven

The members of D66 Eindhoven have elected Chris Dams as the lead candidate for the municipal elections on 18 March 2026 by an overwhelming majority. The vote took place over the past two weeks, during which members of D66 Eindhoven could cast their votes.

Dams has been active within D66 since 2018. He began his political career as chair of the Young Democrats in Brabant. He is currently a councillor and party chair, with housing and education among his areas of responsibility. He combines his work on the council with a job as a mathematics teacher at Were Di in Valkenswaard.

Chair Mark van Glabbeek of D66 Brainport: “Chris is an engaged and connecting leader. His commitment to Eindhoven and his vision for the city inspire confidence in a bright future.”

With the choice for Dams, the members of D66 Eindhoven are opting for a passionate and results-oriented leader with a big heart for the city. He has proven his ability to achieve results and to collaborate effectively within the current coalition, with other parties in the city council, within the D66 group, and with our alderman and city envoy.

Chris: “Eindhoven is a city full of energy, innovation, and diversity. It is an honour to have the trust of the members. I want to advocate for affordable housing, good education, and a city where everyone feels at home. Together with residents, entrepreneurs, and organisations, I want to build a stronger Eindhoven. I believe that together we can make a difference.”

The municipal elections will take place on 18 March 2026. The election programme will be established later this month during the general members’ meeting. The candidacy for those interested in a council seat is open until 7 October. On 3 December 2025, the rest of the candidate list will be announced.
