De motie werd op 9 juli aangenomen in de gemeenteraad. Daarmee komt er een einde aan een bezuinigingsmaatregel die in 2023 werd ingezet door het Westlandse gemeentebestuur.\u00a0<br><br><br>\u201cJuist nu het sociaal domein zwaar onder druk staat, moeten we investeren in plaats van bezuinigen,\u201d aldus D66-fractievoorzitter Benjamin Hofland. \u201cDe wachtlijsten worden langer, de hulpvragen complexer, en steeds meer mensen doen een beroep op gemeentelijke voorzieningen. Het is onze verantwoordelijkheid om daarin mee te bewegen, niet om weg te kijken.\u201d<br><br><br>De partijen constateren dat landelijke ontwikkelingen \u2013 zoals inflatie en woningnood \u2013 de druk op inwoners vergroten. Tegelijkertijd sloot de gemeente 2024 af met een positief rekeningresultaat van bijna 20 miljoen euro. Volgens de indieners biedt dat ruimte om af te zien van bezuinigingen en juist te investeren in preventie, vroegsignalering en maatwerk. \u201cAls we nu niet ingrijpen, stapelen de problemen zich verder op en zijn we op de lange termijn juist duurder uit \u2013 zowel financieel als maatschappelijk,\u201d zegt Hofland.<br><br><br>De motie roept het college op om bij de begroting voor 2026 aan de raad voor te stellen de bezuiniging van 2% op het sociaal domein definitief stop te zetten. D66, PvdA en GroenLinks willen hiermee een krachtig signaal afgeven dat er pal wordt gestaan voor goede zorg, ondersteuning en participatie voor alle Westlanders.<br><br><br>\u201cHet sociaal domein is geen kostenpost, maar het fundament van een menswaardige samenleving,\u201d besluit Hofland. \u201cDaar moet je niet op bezuinigen \u2013 daar moet je in geloven \u00e9n in
