De fractie heeft hierover schriftelijke vragen gesteld aan het college.<br><br>\u201cEr zijn behoorlijk wat voetgangers die vanaf de rotonde de Vlotlaan in lopen om bij\u00a0 Westcoast Gym te gaan sporten of bij DHL een pakket op te halen\u201d, aldus D66-steunraadslid Bart Wijnands. \u201cEen trottoir ontbreekt, dus je moet dan over de rijbaan lopen, waarbij auto\u2019s en vrachtwagens je slecht zien door de bocht.\u201d Dit is een typisch voorbeeld van een \u201contbrekende schakel\u201d, een ontbrekend stuk voetpad waardoor voetgangers niet veilig een bepaalde plaats kunnen bereiken.<br><br>Bij het ontwerpen van verkeerspunten is het autoverkeer over het algemeen het uitgangspunt. Dat staat haaks op de wens dat mensen kortere afstanden meer te voet of met de fiets doen en de auto laten staan. De D66-fractie is daarom blij dat het college nu een voorstel voor voetgangersbeleid naar de raad heeft gestuurd. Daarin krijgen voetgangers eindelijk meer aandacht. De tijdslijn mag wat de fractie betreft wel wat ambitieuzer. In het voorstel worden in 2026 ontbrekende schakels en onveilige situaties in kaart gebracht en vanaf 2027 aangepakt.\u00a0<br><br>Bart Wijnands: \u201cWat D66 Westland betreft zou het geen drie jaar moeten duren om plaatsen als de Vlotlaan van een paar rijtjes stoeptegels te voorzien.\u201d D66 Westland heeft het college daarom gevraagd om dit punt gewoon direct en pragmatisch op te
