Denk aan de regelgeving die de kwaliteit van ons voedsel waarborgt en de bescherming van consumentenrechten. Grenzeloos reizen binnen de Schengenzone vergemakkelijkt vakanties en zakenreizen, terwijl de Europese interne markt ook Westlandse bedrijven in staat stelt om over grenzen heen te handelen en te groeien. Kortom, het Westland profiteert sterk van Europa.\u00a0<br><br>Benjamin Hofland, fractievoorzitter voor D66, benadrukt het belang van de vragen over de voordelen van de Europese Unie voor het Westland: &#8220;D66 Westland vindt het belangrijk om inzicht te hebben in het belang van de EU voor Westland en de kansen die Europa biedt voor de ontwikkeling van het Westland. Dankzij Europese samenwerking kunnen wij bouwen, innoveren en onderzoeken, wat essentieel is voor de groei en bloei van onze gemeenschap en economie .&#8221; Daarnaast voegt hij toe: &#8220;Het is van cruciaal belang dat we begrijpen hoe Europese samenwerking onze regio ten goede komt. Door deze vragen stellen we ons in staat om beter te begrijpen welke mogelijkheden en voordelen Europa biedt voor de ontwikkeling van het Westland.&#8221;<br><br>De vragen die zijn gesteld, richten zich onder andere op de omvang van de financi\u00eble steun die de gemeente Westland ontvangt vanuit de Europese Unie, evenals de concrete voordelen en projecten die door deze subsidies worden gefinancierd. Ook wordt er gevraagd naar voorbeelden hoe Europese subsidies hebben bijgedragen aan werkgelegenheid, economische groei en de verwezenlijking van duurzaamheidsdoelstellingen binnen onze gemeenschap.<br><br>Daarnaast verzoekt D66 aan het college om op de Dag van Europa (9 mei) de Europese vlag te hijsen en te laten wapperen tot en met verkiezingsdag (6 juni). Zo benadrukt Hofland: &#8220;We staan er zelden bij stil hoeveel de Europese Unie bijdraagt aan ons dagelijks leven. Al jarenlang ervaren we de voordelen van vrede, veiligheid en economische ontwikkeling in Nederland en Westland, mogelijk gemaakt door deze samenwerking.&#8221;\t<\/p>\t  <\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
