Veel woningzoekenden zijn de wanhoop nabij. En die zorgen nemen wij zeer serieus. De oplossing is het bouwen van meer betaalbare woningen in Wassenaar samen met woningcorporaties en ontwikkelaars. Zodat starters aan de beurt komen en mensen die dringend op zoek zijn vanwege zorgtaken of werk kunnen worden geholpen. D66 en PvdA hebben zich in de huidige coalitie hard gemaakt voor het bouwen van meer betaalbare woningen, o.a. op de ANWB-locatie, de voormalige school Den Deyl, de gemeentewerf, in Kerkehout en op de locaties die vrijkomen na het samengaan van de St. Jozefschool en St. Baptistschool. Terwijl sommige partijen op de rem trappen willen wij graag versnellen, zodat we meer bouwen voor onze eigen jongeren, ouderen en voorrangsgroepen.<br>\t<\/p>\t  <\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n Het gaat om groepen voor wie het vaak lastig is om op eigen kracht een woning te vinden. In Wassenaar wijzen de woningcorporaties de woningen toe op basis van de gemeentelijke verordening. Onder voorrangsgroepen scharen we in Wassenaar o.a. wettelijke urgentiecategorie\u00ebn en statushouders. Dit hebben wij in Wassenaar vastgelegd in de Huisvestingsverordening Wassenaar 2023.<br>Statushouders hebben na een lange procedure recht op verblijf in Nederland te blijven. Gemeenten blijven bovendien de verplichting houden om elk jaar een aantal statushouders op te nemen. Het afschaffen van de voorrang voor statushouders cre\u00ebert meer problemen dan het oplost. In Wassenaar werden in 2023 212 sociale huurwoningen verhuurd, waarvan 15 naar statushouders (7%), en in 2024 161 waarvan 13 (8%) naar statushouders. En dus gaat meer dan 90% van de woningen naar urgentiegevallen, andere voorrangsgroepen en reguliere woningzoekenden. Van alle beschikbare sociale huurwoningen wordt al meer dan 50% toebedeeld aan inwoners van Wassenaar. Het is goed om op basis van de feiten en cijfers de discussie te voeren over de schaarste van betaalbare woningen en de huisvesting van statushouders in Wassenaar.<br><br>In 2017 is weliswaar door het Rijk de urgentieregeling voor statushouders afgeschaft, maar ondertussen moeten gemeenten nog steeds zorgen voor huisvesting van verschillende doelgroepen. Elk halfjaar krijgt de gemeente Wassenaar een taakstelling van het Rijk hoeveel statushouders de gemeente moet huisvesten, dit is afhankelijk van het aantal inwoners.<br><br>Wat D66 en PvdA betreft hebben statushouders net als alle andere woningzoekenden recht op volwaardige huisvesting, die meer is dan louter voortzetting van opvang. Statushouders integreren juist als zij niet bij elkaar worden geplaatst, maar de kans krijgen om middenin onze samenleving mee te doen. En dat begint met wonen.<br><br>Net als andere groepen die vragen om een woning zou het helpen als we statushouders zien als mensen. Door elkaar te leren kennen. Juist daarin geeft Wassenaar al het goede voorbeeld als het gaat om de opvang van asielzoekers op Duinrell. Dit kunnen wij ook middenin onze buurten en wijken. Laten we samen werken aan een Wassenaar waarin we niet bang zijn om mensen te verwelkomen.
