block-paragraph__paragraph\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tDit heeft drie redenen die we hieronder verder uitleggen:<br>1. Omlaag brengen van de kosten voor afvalverwerking<br>2. Gelijktrekken (\u2018harmoniseren\u2019) van het beleid over afvalinzameling binnen de gemeente<br>3. Het doel bereiken in 2025 van maximaal 100 kilo restafval per inwoner per jaar.<br><br>1. <strong>Omlaag brengen van de kosten voor afvalverwerking<\/strong><br>Alle kosten die de gemeente maakt voor de verwerking van afval, worden \u00e9\u00e9n op \u00e9\u00e9n aan de inwoners doorberekend. Dat gebeurt via de afvalstoffenheffing. Als de kosten voor de gemeente hoger worden dan stijgt de afvalstoffenheffing voor de inwoners.<br>De belangrijkste oorzaak voor de stijging van kosten, zijn de hoge kosten voor het verbranden van restafval. En deze kosten zullen de komende jaren alleen nog maar hoger worden. De belasting op het verbranden van restafval zal namelijk steeds hoger worden. Het is dus belangrijk dat we zo min mogelijk restafval hebben om te verbranden. Alleen zo kunnen de kosten in de hand worden gehouden of zelfs omlaag gaan.<br><br>2. <strong>Gelijktrekken (\u2018harmoniseren\u2019) van het beleid over afvalinzameling binnen de gemeente<\/strong><br>In Leerdam en Zederik wordt al langer gewerkt met ondergronds verzamelen van restafval (\u2018omgekeerd inzamelen\u2019). Als nieuwe gemeente wil je \u00e9\u00e9n beleid, hetzelfde in alle kernen. Ook de andere gemeenten waarmee we samenwerken voor de afvalinzameling door Waardlanden hadden al eerder omgekeerd inzamelen ingevoerd. Op deze manier is het afval inzamelen in het gehele Waardlanden-gebied gelijk en dat maakt het inzamelen van afval door Waardlanden effici\u00ebnter en goedkoper.<br><br>3. <strong>Het doel bereiken in 2025 van maximaal 100 kilo restafval per inwoner per jaar<\/strong><br>Deze doelstelling is in lijn met de landelijke doelstelling en is een duurzaamheidsdoel. Hoe meer we grondstoffen uit het restafval houden om te kunnen hergebruiken, hoe beter dat is voor het milieu (en voor onze portemonnee). Op dit moment is de hoeveelheid restafval die in de gemeente Vijfheerenlanden per inwoner wordt ingezameld nog 231kg per inwoner per jaar. Hiermee behoren wij tot de slechtst scorende gemeenten. Om dit te verbeteren en meer afvalstoffen te kunnen recyclen zijn veranderingen noodzakelijk. Vandaar dat de gemeenteraad op 10 juni 2021 met ruime meerderheid heeft besloten om over te gaan naar het omgekeerd inzamelen. In eerste instantie gaat bijgehouden worden of het afval beter wordt gescheiden en er dus minder restafval is. Mocht dit niet voldoende zijn, dan is er nog een mogelijkheid voor een vervolgstap. Dan moet er betaald gaan worden voor het storten van restafval in de ondergrondse container. Dat noemen we een gedifferentieerd tarief (\u2018Diftar\u2019). Met Diftar word je beloond voor betere afvalscheiding. Dit omdat de belasting op het verbranden van restafval per 1000kg restafval steeds verder zal stijgen. In 2018 was dit \u20ac13,21 per 1000kg, in 2022 wordt dit al \u20ac33,58 per 1000kg. En het is te verwachten dat deze belasting nog verder door zal stijgen. Als het afval gescheiden wordt bij de bron \u2013 dus bij de inwoners \u2013 dan ontstaan veel schonere stromen met recyclebare producten. Door alles eerst bij het restafval te lozen en daarna pas in de fabriek te scheiden, is het afval te vervuild. En met schonere materialen kunnen weer hoogwaardigere producten van gerecycled worden.<br>Wij kunnen als mensen veel beter afval scheiden dan onze huidige scheidingsinstallaties. Daar zijn wel veel ontwikkelingen in, die we natuurlijk goed blijven volgen. Want als die techniek zoveel verbetert dat de mogelijkheden tot hergebruik net zo goed zijn, of zelfs beter door nascheiden is dat natuurlijk voor iedereen een prettiger oplossing.<br>In sommige gevallen kiezen we nog wel voor nascheiden. Bijvoorbeeld bij de hoogbouwgebouwen. In flats is het niet mogelijk voor inwoners om minicontainers bij de deur te zetten.
