De gemeenteraad van Veere heeft na lang aandringen van D66 Veere besloten de hondenbelasting af te schaffen. D66 had die wens al geruime tijd omdat de hondenbelasting een onrechtvaardige en ineffici\u00ebnte belasting is. D66-fractievoorzitter Jacco van Maldegem: &#8220;Een paard en een kat staan ook op vier benen, poepen ook en hebben haar, maar hun baasjes hoefden geen belasting te betalen.\u201d\t<\/p>\t ineffici\u00ebnt. Van Maldegem legt uit: &#8220;Als je een hondenbelasting heft, moet je als gemeente ook controleren of inwoners die die belasting niet betalen ook geen hond in huis hebben. Dat vergt dus huis-aan-huiscontrole.
