block-paragraph__paragraph\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tVorige week was ik bij de boekpresentatie van het boek GOKKERS &amp; GRAAIERS van Roel Janssen in Den Haag. Een opmerkelijk boek dat uitgegeven wordt door Follow the money.<br>Roel Janssen is financieel-economisch journalist (voormalig redacteur van NRC Handelsblad) en schrijver van non-fictie en spannende boeken.<br>Hij schetst in dit boek de financi\u00eble schandalen van de VOC tot de Zuidas. Nederland heeft een bijzondere reputatie. Het is eeuwenlang een pionier geweest in creatieve financi\u00eble trajecten en daarmee het grootste doorstroomland van de wereld geworden. De Handelsgeest van Nederland wordt alom geprezen maar dit heeft ook vaak tot excessen geleid. Van het revolutionaire systeem om de slavernijplantages te financieren (met slaven als onderpand van de lening) tot de helft van de kinderporno die via Nederland de wereld in wordt gestuurd.<br>Nederland is uitgegroeid tot de een na grootste ontvanger van Russische investeringen. Daarnaast vormen de brievenbusfirma\u2019s de grootste financi\u00eble sector in Nederland en is Nederland inmiddels het vierde belastingparadijs ter wereld. Europese sancties in 2022 tegen Russische bedrijven en oligarchen die hun belangen in Nederland hadden ondergebracht, dwongen de dienstverleners aan de Zuidas een streep te halen door hun lucratieve praktijken. Maar dit blijven allemaal grote ingrepen waar de lokale politiek weinig of geen zeggenschap in heeft. Al hoewel, dankzij een koppige burger heeft justitie de voormalige topman van de ING moeten vervolgen. D66 landelijk bepleit een sterke rechtstaat en geeft prioriteit aan cybercriminaliteit en financi\u00eble misdaad. D66 wil daarom ook ambtelijke corruptie bestrijden. Zij onderzoeken de mogelijkheid tot het cre\u00ebren van een financi\u00eble politie. Bovendien willen zij de mogelijkheid onderzoeken om een crimineel vermogen te confisqueren wanneer een veroordeling niet meer mogelijk is. De huizen van Vestia (volgens het boek het op een na grootste speculatieverlies ter wereld) in onze gemeente zijn er slecht aan toe en schreeuwen om duurzaamheidsmaatregelen. Wij werken mee aan bouwprojecten waar de woningen voor de middenklassen kunnen worden opgekocht en duur weer worden verhuurd. Zolang dit mogelijk is zullen mensen er gebruik van blijven maken. Het lukt ons niet om werken voor mensen die veel toeslagen krijgen, aantrekkelijk te maken omdat zij er vaak niet beter van worden. Ook in de zorg zijn veel perverse maatregelen. De vaste geringe eigen bijdrage voor huishoudelijke hulp leidt er toe dat veel mensen hun particuliere hulp opzeggen en zwaar gesubsidieerde hulp van de gemeente krijgen. Gelukkig wordt dit weer teruggedraaid en zullen welvarende mensen weer een hoge eigen bijdrage gaan betalen. Het is raadzaam voor de lokale politiek om alert te blijven op oneigenlijk gebruik van overheidsgeld en ook al kan je het lokaal niet veranderen, dan blijft het goed dit te blijven signaleren. Dit geldt eveneens voor de handelingen van commerci\u00eble partijen waar de overheid zaken mee doet.
