Al jarenlang zet D66 zich er samen met andere partijen voor in om een streep te zetten door de kap van het bos bij Amelisweerd. block-paragraph__paragraph\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tAl vele jaren zijn de verwoestende gevolgen van de verbreding bekend, maar nu kunnen wij kiezen voor een duurzame toekomst voor Amelisweerd. Om ons bos te beschermen voor alle Utrechters en allen die nog na ons komen. Het behoud van het natuurgebied is binnen handbereik gekomen, omdat ons regionale alternatief, een verbreding binnen de bestaande snelwegbak, mogelijk wordt gemaakt in het regeerakkoord. Na jaren stilstand en een dreigende, onnodige verbreding van de A27 ligt er een groene toekomst voor ons. Ons is al bekend dat de capaciteit van de snelweg kan worden verhoogd binnen de bestaande tunnelbak. Het is goedkoper, het voorkomt onnodige bomenkap en het is net zo effectief. Daar gaan wij ons als D66 Utrecht hard voor maken. De optie die de nieuwe coalitie ons biedt is daarom zeer welkom. En zo zie je ook maar dat regeren loont. De inzet van D66 is duidelijk in dit akkoord terug te zien. Bijvoorbeeld door betere fietsroutes naar \u00a0OV-punten aan te leggen, en door extra OV toe te voegen rondom nieuwbouwwijken zoals de Merwedekanaalzone. Ook de huidige omgeving van de A27 vraagt om een impuls.
