opvattingen over het kabinetsvoornemen om illegaliteit strafbaar te stellen. Het college laat in zijn beantwoording nu duidelijk weten dat Utrecht daartegen is. De afspraken hierover in het regeerakkoord tussen PvdA en VVD zijn niet proportioneel en bovendien in strijd met internationale verdragen. D66 is blij dat Utrecht waar nodig ondersteuning blijft bieden aan mensen die hier illegaal verblijven.<\/strong>\u00a0<br><br>D66-raadslid Selma Bas: &#8216;Het is goed dat het college zich duidelijk uitspreekt tegen deze ongewenste maatregel van het kabinet. Mensen die hier illegaal verblijven verdienen een menswaardige behandeling. Dit wetsvoorstel doet het tegenovergestelde; het criminaliseert een kwetsbare groep mensen.&#8217; Het voornemen van het kabinet stuit ook op veel weerstand bij de Raad van State en andere betrokken adviesorganen.<br><br>D66 maakt zich er met het college zorgen over dat uitgeprocedeerde asielzoekers door strafbaarstelling nog verder uit beeld raken voor hulpverleners en vatbaarder worden voor mensenhandel. Bas: &#8216;Het is onvoorstelbaar dat een kabinet met PvdA dit er doorheen wil drukken, maar Utrecht heeft nu een duidelijk tegengeluid laten horen&#8217;.
