Een volledige en snelle afhandeling van Wob-verzoeken zorgt voor meer openheid en transparantie. Daarom stelt D66-fractievoorzitter Klaas Verschuure vandaag vragen aan het college. \u201cGoede, duidelijke en snelle informatieverstrekking zorgt ervoor dat Utrechters goed ge\u00efnformeerd mee block-paragraph__paragraph\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tDe openbaarheid van bestuur is volgens de fractie \u00e9\u00e9n van de belangrijkste principes in onze democratie. De regels rondom de verstrekking van overheidsinformatie zijn daarom wettelijk goed vastgelegd. Via zogenoemde Wob-verzoeken kunnen belanghebbenden, journalisten en andere\u00a0bewoners volgens de Wet openbaarheid bestuur (Wob) informatie opvragen over alles wat de overheid doet. Verschuure: \u201cAlles is in beginsel openbaar, maar toch wordt veel informatie onnodig achtergehouden. Indieners van Wob-verzoeken moeten in Utrecht bovendien vaak weken of maanden wachten voordat zij de gevraagde informatie krijgen. Soms moet zelfs de rechter er aan te pas komen om de opgevraagde informatie openbaar te krijgen. De fractie roept het college daarom op om informatie openbaar toegankelijk op de website van de gemeente te plaatsen. \u201cDe Rijksoverheid, de provincie en ook veel andere gemeenten publiceren deze opgevraagde informatie al proactief online, maar Utrecht niet. Als het aan D66 ligt, is dat binnenkort verleden tijd.
