D66 pleit al jaren voor een open, transparante gemeente. Sanne Scholten: \u201cOpen moet de norm zijn, niet de uitzondering. Een informatiecommissaris kan openbaarheid van informatie stimuleren. Ik wil dan ook dat het college gaat kijken of en hoe een dergelijke functie ook in Utrecht kan worden ingevoerd.\u201d<br><br>De gemeente heeft de laatste tijd goede stappen gezet als het gaat om open data. &#8220;We hebben gezien dat het aanstellen van een speciale medewerker voor het stimuleren van open data veel heeft opgeleverd. Ook de vindbaarheid van die informatie\u00a0kan stukken beter. Scholten: \u201cControle door journalisten en door inwoners is een voorwaarde voor een goede lokale democratie. Een mooi voorbeeld: vroeger kreeg de gemeente standaard een WOB-verzoek over de declaraties van de wethouders.
