In een motie wordt opgeroepen om bij staatssecretaris Harbers (Justitie en Veiligheid) voor een oplossing te pleiten voor kinderen die in Nederland zijn geworteld, maar die niet vallen onder het kinderpardon. Deze kinderen wonen meer dan vijf jaar in Nederland, spreken Nederlands en zijn in alle opzichten Nederlands. Ook in Utrecht zijn enkele kinderen die gebruik wilden maken van de kinderpardonregeling, maar die zijn afgewezen.\u00a0 Raadslid Anne-Marijke Podt: \u2018Deze kinderen zijn in Utrecht opgegroeid. Utrecht is hun thuis geworden. Als je hen naar het land van herkomst van hun ouders stuurt doe je hun ontwikkeling geweld aan.\u2019\u00a0 Het kinderpardon is door de regering ingesteld om voor kinderen schrijnende gevallen te voorkomen. Juist omdat ze zo lang in de asielprocedure hebben gezeten dat ze inmiddels in Nederland geworteld zijn geraakt.\t<\/p>\t  <\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div\n  id=\"\"\n  class=\"wrapper block-paragraph__paragraph\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tHet kinderpardon is nu zo opgesteld dat 95% van de aanvragen wordt afgewezen. Podt: \u2018Vooral het zogeheten meewerkcriterium zorgt voor deze afwijzingen. Ouders moeten aantonen dat ze hebben meegewerkt aan terugkeer, wat in de praktijk heel ingewikkeld blijkt. Het is moeilijk te verkroppen dat deze kinderen de dupe worden van een rigide opstelling van de overheid.\u2019 De Kinderombudsman heeft al eerder opgeroepen om het kinderpardon aan te passen, zodat het recht doet aan de betrokken kinderen.
