D66 wil dat we een stad zijn en blijven waar het geweldig is om te wonen. Dat willen we voor Utrechters die hier al wonen en die hier nog gaan wonen. Jony Ferket: \u201cWij willen huizen bouwen voor iedereen die geen betaalbare woning kan vinden. Tegelijkertijd willen we een stad zijn met genoeg groen, werk, voorzieningen en goede bereikbaarheid. Daarom bouwen we nu eerst binnen de stad waar al goede verbindingen zijn voor fiets en openbaar vervoer. In de toekomst bouwen we wat D66 betreft in de polder Rijnenburg. Een ontwerpstudie gaat ons vertellen hoeveel woningen precies gebouwd kunnen worden en wat we nodig hebben aan voorzieningen, groen en goed openbaar vervoer.\u201d\t<\/p>\t  <\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n D66 maakt een keuze voor een stad waarin het fijn is om te wonen. Daarvoor is meer nodig dan voldoende woningen. Er zijn bijvoorbeeld ook scholen, banen, zorginstellingen, winkels, horeca, speeltuinen, groen, goede fietspaden en openbaar vervoer nodig. Jony Ferket: \u201cIn Utrecht zijn nog plekken over waar al deze voorzieningen in de buurt zijn, en waar ook ruimte is om woningen te bouwen. Plannen hiervoor kunnen we snel maken. Daarom gaan we daar eerst bouwen, voordat we buiten de stad kijken. Denk aan Lunetten-Koningsweg, Papendorp, het gebied rond de A12. Hier is plek voor duizenden woningen. Voor goed openbaar vervoer hebben we een tweede intercitystation nodig bij Lunetten-Koningsweg en een snelle tramverbinding die Leidsche Rijn Centrum via het knooppunt Westraven aan Lunetten\/Koningsweg en het Utrecht Science Park verbindt. De realiteit is dat we in een college deelnemen dat verdeeld is over bouwen in die polder. Dankzij D66 bleef al een groot deel van de polder vrij voor woningbouw. Nu zetten we een nieuwe stap. In de coalitie hebben we een compromis gesloten om met een ontwerpstudie in kaart te brengen welke mogelijkheden er zijn voor een toekomstige ontwikkeling van Rijnenburg. Aandachtspunten in de ontwerpstudie zijn een sterke en groene infrastructuur, voldoende woningen en ruimte voor recreatie en werk. Ook de mogelijkheden voor een roeibaan gaan we bekijken. D66 is opgetogen over de ontwerpstudie.
