De omstreden plannen voor snelwegen door Leidsche Rijn en de Amelisweerd gaan, tot voorzichtige tevredenheid van de Utrechtse D66-fractie, waarschijnlijk niet door. besluitvorming voorlag. Wij zijn blij dat de wegen door Leidsche Rijn en Amelisweerd steeds onwaarschijnlijker worden, maar er is nog heel veel reden tot ongerustheid. Wij zijn bijvoorbeeld mordicus tegen de opwaardering van de Waterlinieweg. Lunetten, Hoograven, Rijnsweerd, de Stadionbuurt: Daar kun je toch geen snelweg doorheen leggen? Sterker nog, die Waterlinieweg moet gedownsized worden. En de snelweg langs Haarzuilens en Vleuterweide is ook nog niet van de baan. Een grote investering in OV als alternatief voor de auto blijft onderdeel uitmaken van de Pakketstudies.<br><br>Wethouder De Bondt stelde D66 gerust op het gebied van de invloed van de gemeenteraad. De raad houdt volgens haar de bevoegdheid om voor of tegen de uitkomsten van de pakketstudies te stemmen.
