Er komt een nieuwe brug en hiermee ontstaan er kansen voor een levendig centrum. Door deze autoluw te maken blijven panden beter beschermd en is er ruimte voor een gezellig centrum. De grote kanttekening in het geheel is nog wel het verkrijgen van de grond hiervoor. Het handelen van het college roept weerstand op en grondeigenaren voelen zich niet gehoord. Dat moet vlot getrokken worden.\t<\/p>\t  <\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div\n  id=\"\"\n  class=\"wrapper wrapper__spacing-top-large--30 wrapper__spacing-top-desktop--10 geschiedenis kennen we de Tachtigjarige Oorlog. Een strijd die geen maanden duurde, maar tachtig jaar. Geen rechte lijn, maar een verhaal van volhouden, terugvallen, opnieuw beginnen. En in die oorlog kennen we lokale verzetshelden. Mensen zonder leger, zonder formele macht, maar met een diepe overtuiging dat hun stad het waard was om voor te blijven strijden.<br><br>Een van hen was Kenau Simonsdochter Hasselaer, tijdens het Beleg van Haarlem. Geen generaal, geen bestuurder, maar een burger. Iemand die organiseerde, aandrong en bleef staan toen het makkelijker was geweest om te zwijgen. Geen oorlog met wapens, maar een strijd om ruimte, veiligheid en leefbaarheid. Een lokale Tachtigjarige strijd voor een tweede brug, een ontsluitingsweg. Generaties kwamen en gingen. Plannen werden getekend, weer opgeborgen, opnieuw besproken.<br><br>En in die lange geschiedenis is er iemand geweest die het dossier nooit heeft losgelaten: Steven de Jonge. Geen wethouder, geen raadslid, maar een Blokzieliger in hart en nieren. Iemand die bleef wijzen op kaarten uit 1938, op smalle straten, op kinderen die geen veilige ruimte hadden. Iemand die namens velen sprak, jaar na jaar. Niet omdat het eenvoudig is, maar omdat ze laten zien dat volhouden zin heeft.<br>Vanavond maken we geen einde aan een project. We maken ons wel zorgen over de haalbaarheid voor het verkrijgen van gronden. Wanneer je een plan hebt, al is het maar een eerste schets, dan ga je in gesprek met de grondeigenaar. Nu voelt men zich niet gehoord.
