paragraph__align--left paragraph__color--black paragraph__size--default   block-paragraph__paragraph\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tDe 29-jarige Roy Postma uit Drachten wordt de lijsttrekker van D66 bij de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen in Smallingerland in 2026. Dat heeft de partij deze week bekendgemaakt.<br><br>Postma is al sinds 2021 fractievoorzitter van D66 in de gemeenteraad. Hij zit al sinds 2018 in de raad van Smallingerland. De leden van D66 hebben hem unaniem gekozen als lijsttrekker.<br><br>Postma is blij met het vertrouwen: &#8220;Na twee periodes in de raad is dit voor mij een mooi compliment. Ik ben er trots op en heb zin in de toekomst!&#8221;<br><br>D66 is vroeg met de lijsttrekkersverkiezingen. Volgens Postma is dat geen toeval: &#8220;Bij ons kan elk lid zich kandidaat stellen. Daarna stemmen de leden. Geen gedoe achter de schermen of lange vergaderingen. Zo hoort democratie te werken.&#8221; Postma wil zich de komende jaren sterk maken voor een veiligere gemeente. Zo wil D66 onder andere de verkeersveiligheid verbeteren en zorgen voor strengere handhaving op bijvoorbeeld De Kaden.<br>Ook wil de partij meer betaalbare woningen bouwen. &#8220;Niet af en toe een flatje erbij, maar echt flink uitbreiden,&#8221; zegt Postma. &#8220;We hopen op meer zetels in de raad. Natuurlijk leveren we ook graag weer een wethouder, omdat we geloven in een stabiel gemeentebestuur&#8221;.<br><br>In de komende maanden maakt D66 bekend wie er verder op de kieslijst komen te staan. Uiterlijk aan het eind van het jaar is de lijst compleet.
