Al op zijn 14\u1d49 was hij betrokken bij de Jeugdraad van Smallingerland. Hij hield zich in de periode daarna onder andere bezig met het Friese taalonderwijs en vervulde verschillende functies binnen de partij. Daarmee is hij een van de drijvende krachten achter de interne organisatie van de partij. <br><br>Sinds de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen is Sjirk beleidsmedewerker voor de Friese Provinciale Statenfractie van D66. Daar houdt hij zich onder andere bezig met het Friese taalbeleid en de toekomst van de landbouw. <br><br>Sjirk is opgegroeid in Opeinde en woont in Drachten. Naast zijn werk studeert hij Internationale Betrekkingen en is kandidaat voor de gemeenteraad namens D66 Smallingerland.\t<\/p><div class=\"content-accordion js-content-accordion\"
