Fantastisch nieuws voor iedereen die van een veiligere en duurzamere stad houdt<br><br>De huidige situatie in Rotterdam is zorgwekkend. Vooral in de oude stadswijken en het centrum werden voetgangers en fietsers altijd al verdrongen door auto&#8217;s. Nu er steeds meer fietsers komen, wordt dit probleem zichtbaarder. Woonwijken worden gebruikt als doorgaande wegen, wat leidt tot veel verkeersdrukte. Auto&#8217;s rijden vaak te snel, wat zorgt voor verkeersonveiligheid. Dit heeft als gevolg dat kinderen niet buiten kunnen spelen en niet zelf naar school mogen fietsen. Bovendien veroorzaakt het autoverkeer veel luchtverontreiniging, geluidsoverlast en wordt de ruimte die anders voor fietsers, groen, speelvoorzieningen of levendigheid gebruikt kan worden, ingenomen door auto&#8217;s. De uitstraling van de stad wordt een stuk levendiger met minder ronkende auto&#8217;s.\t<\/p>\t  <\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div\n  id=\"\"\n  class=\"wrapper Denk aan de introductie van eenrichtingswegen, afsluitingen en knippen die auto&#8217;s uit de wijken weren en naar de hoofdwegen leiden. Bijvoorbeeld de Oostzeedijk, de Nieuwe Binnenweg en de Zaagmolenstraat worden eenrichtingswegen, waardoor er minder verkeer en meer ruimte voor voetgangers, fietsers en spelende kinderen is. Drukke verkeerspunten, zoals bij de Heemraadssingel in Rotterdam-West, krijgen een knip, wat de verkeersdrukte aanzienlijk vermindert en de leefbaarheid in de wijken vergroot.<br><br>Daarnaast worden straten aangepast door rijbanen voor auto&#8217;s te schrappen. Straten als de Mariniersweg en de Mathenesserlaan krijgen minder rijbanen, wat de verkeersveiligheid verhoogt en de leefbaarheid vergroot. Op 115 doorgaande wegen wordt de maximumsnelheid verlaagd naar 30 km\/u. Straten als de Mathenesserlaan en de Nieuwe Binnenweg staan bekend als de gevaarlijkste van Nederland. Met deze maatregelen worden ze rustiger en veiliger, waardoor ze prettiger worden om te verblijven. De bevolking van Rotterdam blijft groeien. Zonder ingrijpen zou de stad binnen een paar jaar vastlopen. Met dit plan wordt doorgaand verkeer door woonwijken verminderd en worden auto&#8217;s naar de ring en de hoofdwegen geleid. Dit zorgt niet alleen voor minder drukte in de wijken, maar ook voor minder uitstoot en geluidsoverlast.<br><br>De komende tijd krijgen Rotterdammers de kans hun mening te geven over deze plannen tijdens inspraaksessies. Dit is belangrijk, want we willen dat iedereen zich gehoord voelt en dat de plannen zo veel mogelijk aansluiten bij wat de bewoners nodig hebben. Het Verkeerscirculatieplan is een grote stap in de goede richting.
