Dat merken we allemaal aan de hoge afvalstoffenheffing. Beter scheiden voor hergebruik en minder afval verbranden is goed voor de portemonnee \u00e9n het milieu. <br><br>Daar kan technologie ons bij helpen volgens Martijn Dresscher. \u201cMet technologie kunnen we ons leven makkelijker maken en de wereld beter,\u201d aldus Martijn. Dat komt omdat we nog veel afval verbranden. De belasting die de gemeente moet betalen voor het verbranden stijgt enorm. \u201cWe kunnen die hoge kosten blijven betalen, maar we kunnen ook ons afval beter scheiden en verkopen voor hergebruik.\u201d<br><br>Afval scheiden kan je doen aan huis of machinaal in een fabriek nadat het is opgehaald en verzameld. Dat is het zogenaamde \u2018nascheiden\u2019. Sinds dit jaar wordt plastic, metaal en drinkverpakkingen (PMD) machinaal uit het afval van de Rijswijkse hoogbouw gehaald. <br><br>D66 Rijswijk pleit nu voor een onderzoek naar draagvlak en kostenbesparing van deze manier van afvalscheiding ook in laagbouwwijken. Als ingenieur bij TNO is het niet verrassend dat hij pleit voor meer gebruik van technologie. \u201cAls b\u00e8ta leer je om problemen op een zeer gestructureerde wijze te analyseren,\u201d zegt Dresscher die in 2018 promoveerde op toegepaste wiskunde. <br><br>Voordat het gescheiden plastic als grondstof opnieuw wordt gebruikt wordt het bij de fabriek ge\u00efnspecteerd. Als er te veel andere rommel bij zit, wordt het afgekeurd en alsnog verbrand. \u201cThuis goed scheiden leidt nog altijd tot de beste resultaten.
