Op zich vinden we het heel logisch dat er in de wereld van nu meer aandacht, geld en ruimte voor onze veiligheid nodig is. Er is een oorlog gaande op ons continent en daar kunnen we onze ogen niet voor sluiten. En we kunnen ons best voorstellen dat andere functies daarvoor soms moeten wijken. En ook in Utrecht heeft Defensie meerdere plekken op het oog voor toekomstig gebruik. Het Ministerie van Defensie is hier gestructureerd mee bezig. Daarin praten provincie en Defensie over de ruimtelijke impact van een groeiende Defensie-organisatie. Functies die flink wat ruimte nodig hebben, en die niet altijd makkelijk te combineren zijn. Maar die combinatie van functies moet wel het uitgangspunt blijven.
