Midden-Drenthe. Op dit moment is hij fractievoorzitter en lijsttrekker van de partij. Onder zijn leiding maakt D66 voor het eerst in de lokale geschiedenis deel uit van de coalitie in Midden-Drenthe. D66 hoopt na de verkiezingen opnieuw onderdeel te zijn van de coalitie, met Marten Leistra als wethouder. De partij is trots op wat er in de afgelopen raadsperiode door de gemeente is bereikt.<br><br>Marten Leistra is sinds 2012 actief voor D66 in de politiek van Midden-Drenthe. Vanaf 2018 was hij commissielid en later ook raadslid. Sinds mei 2023 is hij fractievoorzitter van de partij.<br>Hij groeide op in het Friese platteland, in Burum. Sinds de start van zijn carri\u00e8re is hij werkzaam geweest in het werkveld van de justiti\u00eble jeugdzorg en in het sociale domein. Inmiddels werkt hij als docent Omgangskunde in het domein Zorg en Welzijn bij MBO Firda in Drachten. Daarnaast is hij al twaalf jaar voorzitter van jongerencentrum Chill-In in Beilen.<br><br>In zijn vrije tijd loopt hij hard en fietst hij op zijn gravelbike door de prachtige natuur van Midden-Drenthe. Zijn hart als politicus ligt vooral bij het sociale domein: hij wil kansen cre\u00ebren voor jongeren en ervoor zorgen dat iedereen kan meedoen.<br><br>Kandidaat-wethouder Marten Leistra:<br><em>\u201cIk geloof dat het kan: een gemeente waar meedoen vanzelfsprekend is, waar bewegen en gezondheid worden gestimuleerd en waar vrijwilligers het kloppend hart vormen van onze samenleving.
