De wethouder heeft toegezegd te onderzoeken hoe inwoners ook in de toekomst gratis strooizout kunnen krijgen. Die toezegging kwam na vragen en opmerkingen van D66 Meierijstad en verschillende andere partijen tijdens de commissievergadering over het nieuwe beleid voor gladheidsbestrijding.<br>\u00a0<br>In het nieuwe beleid was het gratis beschikbaar stellen van strooizout aan inwoners geschrapt. Volgens de gemeente brengt het ophalen van zout op de gemeentewerf verkeersrisico&#8217;s en veiligheidsrisico&#8217;s met zich mee.<br>\u00a0<br>D66 Meierijstad vindt het belangrijk dat inwoners zelf verantwoordelijkheid nemen voor een schone en veilige stoep voor hun huis. Door gratis strooizout beschikbaar te stellen, helpt de gemeente inwoners juist om die verantwoordelijkheid te nemen. Daarmee maken we de buurt niet alleen veiliger voor onszelf, maar ook voor ouderen en mensen die minder goed ter been zijn. Namens D66 bracht commissielid Wiel Verhaegh dit onder de aandacht.<br>\u00a0<br>De wethouder heeft toegezegd te kijken naar een veilige manier om gratis strooizout beschikbaar te blijven stellen. Een mogelijke oplossing is om zakken strooizout op pallets bij de gemeentewerf of andere centrale plekken in Meierijstad neer te zetten. Zo kunnen inwoners eenvoudig voldoende zout meenemen, zonder dat dit tot onveilige situaties leidt.<br>\u00a0<br>D66 Meierijstad is blij met deze toezegging. We hopen dat de wethouder snel met een praktische oplossing komt, zodat inwoners ook deze winter kunnen helpen om hun buurt veilig te houden.<br>\u00a0<br>Want gladheid bestrijden doen we samen.
