block-paragraph__paragraph\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tAfgelopen week ontvingen diverse raadsleden waaronder D66-raadslid Julia de Groot mbo- studenten van de opleiding Social Work van mboRijnland in het stadhuis. De studenten gaven aan weinig vertrouwen te hebben in en zich niet gehoord te voelen door de politiek. De studenten vertelden dat zij vaak te maken krijgen met vooroordelen in het dagelijks leven: ze worden geweigerd bij horeca en worden als \u2018lager\u2019 gezien. De studenten gaven zelf al oplossingen om het imago van het mbo te verbeteren: onder andere door te stoppen met termen als \u2018hoog\u2019 en \u2018laag\u2019 opgeleid. De gemeente Utrecht publiceerde 31 maart al een plan voor meer gelijkwaardigheid voor mbo-studenten. Zij gaf aan gelijkwaardigheid voor alle studenten, dus ook mbo-studenten, erg belangrijk te vinden. De doelen van het plan uit Utrecht worden dan ook onderschreven door haar, maar dan op eigen manier. Wel gebeurt er al heel veel in Leiden: zo zijn de stagevergoedingen, vooruitlopend op landelijk beleid, al gelijk getrokken, worden er op dit moment gesprekken gevoerd over de toegang van mbo-studenten tot de El Cid-week, brengt de wethouder veel werkbezoeken aan het mbo, ontvangt de gemeente mbo-klassen op het stadhuis, is mboRijnland \u00e9\u00e9n van de vijf hoofdpartners van Leiden Kennisstad en is onlangs gecheckt of mbo-studenten ook net als andere studenten korting krijgen bij organisaties zoals sportverenigingen in Leiden. De termen \u2018hoog\u2019 en \u2018laag\u2019 opgeleid gebruikt de gemeente al niet meer, maar dit gaat zij nog breder uitdragen.
