Een betaalbaar en passend thuis geeft rust, zekerheid en perspectief. Daarom kiest D66 Gilze en Rijen voor bouwen voor onze eigen inwoners. Niet voor de markt maar voor starters, jonge gezinnen, doorstromers en ouderen. Iedereen moet in zijn eigen dorp kunnen blijven wonen \u2013 of er weer naar terug kunnen keren. Minimaal 30% van alle nieuwbouw in de gemeente is en blijft sociaal. Maar het tempo moet omhoog. Tussen de Leijen moet nu eindelijk gebouwd \u00e9n bewoond worden. In Rijen liggen nog kansen op inbreidingslocaties zoals de spoorzone en andere plekken in het dorp. Daarom richten we nieuwbouw nadrukkelijk op senioren die willen doorstromen uit een eengezinswoning in de buurt waardoor er weer woningen vrijkomen voor gezinnen. Tegelijkertijd bouwen we meer woningen voor starters. Woningsplitsing maken we onder duidelijke regels eenvoudiger. Bij nieuwbouw geldt een zelfbewoningsplicht om speculatie tegen te gaan. Zo ontstaat direct woonruimte voor kinderen, starters en anderen die dringend een woning zoeken. Geen onnodige vergunningen wel heldere regels voor formaat, locatie en veiligheid. Ook bij huurwoningen is maximale voorrang voor eigen inwoners het uitgangspunt.
