Hierdoor wordt de komende jaren gewerkt aan de bouw van een museum over de maritieme geschiedenis en het unieke verhaal van het ontstaan van Flevoland. Hierdoor beheert Batavialand straks een unieke fraaie collectie over de Nederlandse scheepvaarttraditie. De aanwijzing betekent ook dat het huidige Batavialand uitgebreid moet worden: de huidige bebouwing is niet voldoende om de collectie te huisvesten.
