In 1972 verhuisden hij naar Dongen. Tijdens zijn opleiding en de start van zijn carri\u00e8re is hij een tijdje weg geweest, om in 1984 samen met echtgenote Sonja weer naar Dongen terug te keren. Jan-Willem vond een baan bij het toenmalige Euro-Citrus in Oosterhout, waar hij tot zijn pensioen met veel plezier heeft gewerkt. Samen kregen ze twee prachtige dochters, Anouk en Judith. In zijn vrije tijd heeft Jan-Willem veel hard gelopen, marathons, de Roparun en nog veel meer leuke evenementen. Hij wandelt nog steeds veel. Een van zijn hoogtepunten was een wandeling van drie maanden naar Santiago de Compostella (2500 km). Op dit moment ben is hij oa.trainer bij Atledo, hij geeft daar technische atletiek aan de jeugd. Daarnaast is hij vrijwilliger bij MIJZO en buurtbemiddelaar. Verder is hij gek op bridgen, iets wat hij van thuis uit heeft meegekregen. Jan-Willem is een levensgenieter, zijn vrije tijd komt hij wel door. Gezelligheid, eten, drinken en vooral veel praten!<br><br><strong>Waarom D66?<\/strong><br>In 2019 keek hij zichzelf in de spiegel aan en vroeg zich af: \u201c Wie ben ik nu?\u201d Jan Willem is een progressief sociaal liberaal, pacifist, verbinder en vooral mens. Dit vind hij terug bij D66: \u201cHet kan w\u00e9l\u201d<br><br><strong>Wat wil Jan Willem bereiken?<\/strong><br>Dongen gaat hem aan het hart. Jan-Willem is hier thuis. Dus dan wil hij zich ook inzetten voor de gemeenschap. Zijn doel is dat Dongen ook in de toekomst een echt fijn dorp blijft waar je kan uitgaan sporten \u2013 recre\u00ebren \u2013 enz. Daar moet wel wat voor gebeuren.
