Na een drukke start met kennismakingen, moties en kritische vragen, kwam eind april een onverwacht begrotingstekort van \u20ac3,7 miljoen aan het licht. Dat was schrikken. D66 bekritiseert dat het college de raad pas in april inlichtte, na de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen, terwijl de signalen er al in januari waren. Dit belemmert de controlerende rol van de raad. Wethouder Karl Maier trad af na een aangekondigde motie van wantrouwen van de VVD. D66 was van plan deze motie te steunen, maar voordat er gestemd werd, gaf de wethouder al aan op te stappen. En nu? Wij zijn en blijven als D66 Buren alert op de informatieplicht. Die mag nooit geschonden worden. Ook niet door het nieuwe college.
