De groep bewoners haalde genoeg handtekeningen op om een raadsvoorstel in te brengen over het verkeer en de overlast op de Arnhemse centrumring. Raadslid Joris Brandts: \u201cD66 is blij met het initiatief. vinden omwonenden die zich verenigd hebben in het Platform Arnhemse Centrumring (PAC). Onlangs dienen ze hun plan in bij de gemeenteraad, in de vorm van een burgerinitiatief.* Zij hebben ruim tweehonderd handtekeningen opgehaald om een voorstel in de raad te agenderen. Joris Brandts is blij met het initiatief van de bewoners: \u201cOp de Arnhemse centrumring komen veel problemen samen: er is veel autoverkeer, slechte luchtkwaliteit, er wordt hard gereden en er ontstaan vaak onveilige situaties voor de voetganger en fietser. Drie voorstellen van het PAC, waaronder het tegengaan van sluipverkeer en het verlagen van de snelheid, kunnen goed worden meegenomen in het mobiliteitsplan dat eind dit jaar wordt verwacht. Twee voorstellen kunnen mogelijk sneller worden uitgevoerd. Brandts: \u201cHet sluit helemaal aan op de visie die we hebben op duurzame mobiliteit in de stad, zoals dat ook in het coalitieakkoord is vastgelegd en onlangs in de startnotitie van het aankomende <a href=\"https:\/\/d66.nl\/arnhem\/nieuws\/op-weg-naar-duurzame-mobiliteit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Duurzame Mobiliteitsplan<\/a> is besproken. We kiezen in Arnhem duidelijk een koers waarbij de voetganger en de fietser, meer dan voorheen, voorrang krijgen in het verkeer. Om een burgerinitiatief in te dienen bij de raad zijn minimaal 100 ondersteuningsverklaringen nodig. Het burgerinitiatief van Platform Arnhemse Centrumring is de eerste keer dat een burgerinitiatief in de gemeenteraad is geagendeerd.<\/sub><br><br><br><strong><em>UPDATE 28 JUNI 2023:<\/em><\/strong><br><em>Tijdens de raadsvergadering van 28 juni is het burgerinitiatief met grote meerderheid aangenomen. <br>Met dit besluit wordt het college verzocht de twee concrete maatregelen te treffen (verkeerslichten voetgangers- en fietsvriendelijker afstellen en een veilige oversteekmogelijkheid bij de Sabelspoort). En worden drie uitgangspunten meegegeven aan het Duurzame Mobiliteitsplan (inzetten op vermindering van de maximumsnelheid, toepassing van trajectcontrole om de verkeerssnelheid te beheersen en tegengaan van sluipverkeer). <br><br>Raadslid Joris Brandts: \u201cD66 heeft veel waardering voor de initiatiefnemers. Zo\u2019n burgerinitiatief omvat veel meer dan alleen 200 handtekeningen ophalen. De indieners hebben veel werk in de voorbereiding gestoken en ook tijdens de behandelingen in de raadskamers is veel werk verricht.
