Dit ondanks de leegstandsverordening die woningleegstand hoort te bestrijden. D66-lijsttrekker Reinier van Dantzig stelt hierover vragen aan de wethouder. Van Dantzig: \u201cWij vinden het echt onacceptabel dat leegstand groeit in een tijd van een wooncrisis. Deze leegstand wordt in stand gehouden door malafide verhuurders die de prijs niet willen laten zakken maar kunstmatig hooghouden in de hoop meer geld te kunnen vangen. De meeste van deze woningen bevinden zich in het dure huursegment (huurprijzen vanaf 1.250 euro per maand). Dit komt omdat de groep met veel financi\u00eble ruimte niet groot genoeg is om al het aanbod in het dure huursegment op te vullen. Terwijl de leegstand in het dure segment toeneemt zijn er in 2021 duizenden woningen in dit segment in aanbouw genomen. Dit betekent dat het aantal leegstaande woningen waarschijnlijk zal groeien. Beleggers willen namelijk ook bepaalde rendementen behalen op hun woningbezit en laten daarom niet zomaar de prijs zakken. Hier gaat iets niet goed. Als een dure huurwoning lang leegstaat is dat niet omdat er geen huurder te vinden is maar omdat de prijs simpelweg te hoog is. Zo betoogt de fractie van D66 Amsterdam. Van Dantzig: \u201cWoningen leeg laten staan in de hoop deze woningen later voor veel geld te kunnen verhuren is simpelweg niet te verkroppen. Het is niet te verkopen aan de Amsterdammer dat zo veel van ons geen huis kunnen vinden terwijl er duizenden leeg staan. Langdurige leegstand moeten we dan ook afknijpen door strenger op te treden. Daarom stelt de fractie D66 Amsterdam voor om de termijn van toegestane leegstand te halveren naar drie maanden en de boetes voor langdurige leegstand te verdubbelen. Als woningeigenaren moeite hebben om hun woning te verhuren moet de gemeente afspraken maken met de woningeigenaren om eerlijke marktprijzen te vragen voor hun woning. Van Dantzig: \u201cEr is veel te winnen op de woningmarkt door langdurige woningleegstand aan te pakken. Daarom hebben we hier vragen over gesteld aan de wethouder en daar ook gelijk een aantal concrete voorstellen bij gedaan.
