In de Hoogbouwvisie is vastgesteld op welke plekken hoogbouw mogelijk is. Aslanjan: \u201cHoogbouw is absoluut geen doel op zich, maar op goed gekozen locaties biedt het kansen om de wooncrisis te lijf te gaan. Ouderkerkerlaan 150 voldoet volledig aan de door de raad gestelde eisen: naast een tramhalte, uitvalswegen en een fietspad en dichtbij het Stadshart. Vanwege de ontsluiting direct aan de Ouderkerkerlaan en de nabijheid van de Beneluxbaan en de afslag van de A9, zorgt autoverkeer niet voor extra druk in de wijk. De Ouderkerkerlaan wordt gezien als entree voor het centrum en de wijk Keizer Karelpark. Minimaal 55 procent bestaat uit koopwoningen. Daarmee voldoet het plan volledig aan de Woonagenda 2020-2023. De ontwikkelaar denkt hierbij aan starters, jonge gezinnen en <em>empty nesters<\/em>. Aslanjan: \u201cDe opgave voor Amstelveen is om betaalbare woningen te realiseren. Omdat we niet willen bouwen in onze polders of op trapveldjes, is transformatie van al bebouwde locaties onze enige optie. Met laagbouw is het dan moeilijker om betaalbare woningen te realiseren. Er kunnen minder woningen worden gebouwd op \u00e9\u00e9n plek, en deze woningen nemen relatief gezien meer ruimte in. Daardoor worden ze duurder. In het plan voor de Ouderkerkerweg wordt het parkeren onderdeel van het gebouw. Door de getrapte vorm van het gebouw ontstaan dakterrassen op verschillende niveaus met veel groen aan de Keizer Karelparkwijk zijde. Met name de gevels grenzend aan het parkeerterrein aan de Kierkegaardstraat bieden\u00a0 mogelijkheden voor het integreren van verticaal groen (bijvoorbeeld groene gevels). Het gebouw krijgt \u2018een actieve plint\u2019, waarvoor gedacht wordt aan een kleine supermarkt. Dat zorgt voor meer beweging op straat. De sociale veiligheid van de looproute naar de tramhalte wordt hierdoor vergroot. Aslanjan: \u201cWij willen dat ook jongeren in Amstelveen kunnen blijven wonen tegen betaalbare prijzen en niet weggejaagd worden naar andere steden.<br><br>Tegelijk zien we dat veel inwoners vrezen dat de historische identiteit van de stad verandert door alle nieuw- en hoogbouw. Wij begrijpen zorgen en bezwaren van omwonenden. Dat vergt altijd een zorgvuldige weging tussen het individuele en het algemeen belang. Maar zonder woningbouw verandert juist het karakter van onze stad.
