Er waren veel idee\u00ebn maar nooit werd een bestemming gevonden voor het gebouw. De gemeenteraad heeft ooit besloten dat het gebouw eigendom van de gemeente moet blijven maar tot gisteren (20 juni) kwam daar niks concreets bij.\t<\/p>\t  <\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<div\n block-paragraph__paragraph\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tIn de gemeenteraad van 20 juni 2024 is besloten om het Oude Raadhuis van Alphen aan den Rijn goed te restaureren, goed te verduurzamen en goed bruikbaar te maken. <br><br>Het voorstel dat aangenomen is, is op bijzondere wijze tot stand gekomen. Veel partijen hebben in een raads-brede werkgroep samengewerkt om het plan gestalte te geven. D66 heeft er met volle overtuiging en met plezier aan meegewerkt. Ook al is het gebouw 85 jaar oud, met maatregelen krijgt het straks energielabel B. Verder wordt het aantal bruikbare vierkante meters bijna verdubbeld &#8211; en dat zonder bij- of aan te bouwen. En dat in een tijd dat gemeenten, ook de gemeente Alphen aan den Rijn, vreselijk moeten bezuinigen. Je kunt je afvragen \u201c<em>Moeten we dit dan nu doen?<\/em>\u201d. Ons antwoord daarop is volmondig ja. Het beeldbepalende gebouw moet voor de Alphense gemeenschap weer goed bruikbaar worden<br><br>Maar er is meer. Investeren is iets anders dan ergens geld aan uitgeven. We investeren zodanig in het gebouw dat de jaarlijkse kosten lager worden dan ze nu zijn. Dat komt omdat we enorm bezuinigen op de energiekosten \u00e9n omdat er heel veel vierkante meters verhuurbare ruimte bijkomt. Cultuur wordt veelal flink gesubsidieerd door de gemeente. Wij hebben er dan ook voor gepleit dat er ook commerci\u00eble huurders in het gebouw komen. Zo stroomt er huur van buitenaf naar de gemeente. Kortom: wij zien een mix van commercieel- en cultureel gebruik voor ons. Het nu genomen besluit voorziet hierin.
